About ME!
Hi!! My name is Jonathan Rodriguez! I was born and raised in Austin Texas. I am the creator, author, and illustrator behind “Diary of a Dragonfly.” From a young age, I’ve always had a love of reading and writing my own stories complete with their own illustrations. I created the dragonfly character when I was in 4th grade.
How I Published My First Book:
In 2023, almost ten years later, I found some old books about the dragonfly character. I had always dreamed of one day making it a real book, so I created a simple sketch of the character. That was when I knew I wanted to bring the character back. I began writing Diary of a Dragonfly: It’s a Big World! Thanks to the help of Ms. Melanie Griffin-Hamlin, the book is now in your hands! My goal is to inspire the next generation of children to continue reading and to come up with their own stories that they, too, will one day share with the world, just like I did!

Absolutely. The second Diary of a Dragonfly book is already finished and in the process of publishing. I have plans to create a full fledged series surrounding Jake the Dragonfly and the big world he lives in. I also have 2 other projects in the works as well!

Haha I ask myself the same thing. When I was a kid I loved writing about random things. I wish I could tell you some elaborate story of how I picked a dragonfly of all bugs to write about, but it was kind of random. But it really stuck and it was my favorite book I wrote as a child so I definitely wanted to bring it back into a real book.
